Gary Neville said Christiano Ronaldo set to outpass Pele's record on goals to become greatest of all time.

Premier League football legend, Gary Neville, has said that he doesn't see Ronaldo resigning from the sport of football until he has outperformed Pele's goal scoring record since he needs to be named the best footballer ever.

Gary Neville and Ronaldo were partners at Manchester United and the ex-Manchester United safeguard says Ronaldo's fixation on flawlessness may see him play until his 40s.

Pele scored a sum of 1281 objectives in 1363 games, a Guiness Book record, while Ronaldo has scored more than 700 objectives provoking Neville to state outperforming Pele is Ronaldo's fundamental objective.

"He simply needed to be the extremely, best on the planet and it's so essential to him," Neville told SkySports.

"It's a fixation. Supreme fixation on scoring objectives. Putting forth a concentrated effort each and every day, being the fittest he can be. I believe he's lifted his polished skill each and every year and advanced.

"Jamie (Carragher) referenced before about James Milner needing to play into his late 30s and 40s. I think he [Ronaldo] has an arrangement to go on and assume control over Pele's record. "I truly accept he needs to go on and beat Pele's numbers.

"That is the place I believe he's at in his brain, he needs to be the best ever, that is his sole reason, understanding that en route in the event that he is the best ever, the groups that he plays for will win trophies and be fruitful."
