How should I wash and dry clothes, towels and bed linen, if someone in my household is a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patient?

The better way to quench coronavirus from to much waka waka
According to W.H.O recommendation, we should wash our hands frequently, that is the best and only good practice that is able to help us fight this virus and prevent it from coming close to us.

Apart from washing of the hands, we have been asked to cough or sneez into our elbows, avoid touching of our face that is, the nose, mouth and eyes, we should maintain social distance at all time and if we have no place to go, we should then stay, stay safe, while taking note of every things.

The question is "how should I wash and dry clothes, towels and bed linen, if someone in my household is a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patient?

In other to stay safe and get no corona infection, W.H.O recommends that when someone in your house is infected, you:

  • Wash the patient's clothes, towels and linen sepearetley.
If possible, wearr heavey duty gloves before handling them.
  • Never carry soiled linen against your body; place soiled linen in a clearly labelled, leak proof container that is bag or buck for example.
  • Scrape off solid excrement (e.g. faeces or vomit) with a flat, firm object and dispose of in the patient's toilet before putting linen in the designated container. Place the excrement in a covered bucket to dispose of in the toilet, if this is not in the patients's room.
  • Wash and disinfect linen: Machine wash at 60-90 c with laundry detergent.
Alternatively, soak linen in hot water and soap in a large drum, using a stick to stir, avoiding splashing.
If hot water is not available, soak linen in 0.05% chlorine for approximately 30 minutes. Rins with clean water and let linen dry in the sunlight.
  • Do not forget to wash your hands at the end of the process
