Check Out What Is Happening To Arik Air Currently

Arik Air is the latest and third on the list of airline companies in Nigeria to shut down operations. The first airline Aero Contractors, the second First Nation and now Arik airline have joined the list.

A lot of passengers in the country, when counted could amount to hundreds, if not thousands have been made to regret the fact that they booked their ticket with Arik airline. Clockwise News gathered that none of the airline (Arik) aircraft has been operated to any destinations in the country, West Africa and other routes.

This incident came up as a result of the company’s inability to pay it’s marketers who regularly supply aviation fuel to them. Clockwise news gather the debt is massive and it is partially responsible for shutting down the operations of the airline. This debt has been said to amount to =N= 3 billion.

Arik airline starts it’s operation as early as 6:45 am. It’s first flight is usually around 6:45 am, followed by 7:30 am, Abuja-Lagos at about 8:00 am and 9:00. Others are Benin, Port Harcourt, Asaba and Kano. Arik airline also have flights operations to Heathrow Airport in London and New York in the United States of America.

The airline in a statement by its spokesman, Adebanji Ola said: “Arik Air, West and Central Africa’s largest airline has alerted all air travelers of a temporary disruption to its operations, pending approval of aircraft documentation related to insurance renewal. The airline said that it was working around the clock to resolve the necessary documentation, which has been a challenge due to the long weekend holidays due to Ed al Adha”.

The bad part of the situation is that it is likely to continue for the next few days until such time that NAICOM (National Insurance Commission) approves a waiver on a priority basis for the new insurance company to renew the policy.

According to Naij, the group CEO has apologized and appealed (on behalf of the airline) for the understanding of passengers while it works diligently to resume normal operations at the earliest.
In the same way, Aero Contractors shut down it’s operation indefinitely on September 1, 2016 as it was unable to pay its debt amounting to N30billion. This brought about a reduction in its fleet of airline which was over nine aircraft as at then servicing both domestic and regional routes. Currently, Aero Contractors just have one aircraft.

First on the other side, claimed it was necessary for them to suspend operation as it was necessary for them to carry out the required maintenance of its aircraft.

Arik airline have taken a brave step to suspend its flight operation temporary in other for them to put things straight. Clockwise news hopes that this whole situation comes to an end as soon as possible as I know tomorrow won’t be a good day for the staff or Arik airline as their customers will come down heavily on them.
