There are different myth and stories of how this virus COVID-19 started, different person', different views. Some with the opinion that it originated from people eating live animals (bats) in a city Wuhan, Hubei Province in China.
Origin of COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
Actually, coronaviruse outbreak was first recorded in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China back dated to December 2019.
They are large family of zoonotic viruses which implies that these viruses can be transmitted from animals to humans. This virus attack the respiratory system of the human body with symptoms such as cough, fever, tiredness, feeling of not being well, sore throat that can be mild and in some cases become severe due to weakened immune system.
COVID-19 infection is spread from one person to others via droplets produced from the respiratory system of an infected persons when coughing or sneezing. This droplets can be suspended in air for a little time before settling down on surfaces. The symptoms of an infected person is visible between 2 to 14 days after one has been infected or is exposed to the virus.
Symptoms
Some people who have the virus have shown no symptoms, making them a carrier and also making it difficult for them to be trace. Despite this, it' important that we know that the virus affects different people in different ways.
Symptoms of this virus COVID-19 can be mild or moderate and are as follows:
High fever
Dry cough
Shortness of breath
Sore throat
Tiredness
General feeling of not being well
Body Aches
It is important to note that this symptoms can go from mild to severe cases especially for the aged ones with lower immune system to help fight the virus while some persons might not need to see the doctor as their body will recover when they stay at home and isolate themselves. In other words given the body rest and help stop further spread of the virus.
Prevention
- It is highly important that you wash your hand regularly with soap and water for at least 20 secs, or clean your hand with alcohol-based hand rub (sanitizer).
- Avoid touching your face, mouth and nose.
- Important to cover mouth and nose when coughing, sneezing or when sick so as to prevent further spread of the disease.
- Stay indoor when you feel sick.
- Stop taken alcoholic drinks, stop smoking or any activities that weaken the immune system.
- Maintain safe distance at least 1.5 meters between you and people who are visibly coughing or sneezing.
- Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.
