For no reason should one think of taking his or her life. No
matter the cost or how deep the insult will be because as long as you have
life, there is always hope.
Unfortunately, this will not be said to the young 19 year old
girl who decided to take her life because her boyfriend or boy lover got
another girl pregnant and subsequently dumped her.
Jessica Beer, a 19-year-old female student of Dyege Memorial
College, Akpehe, Markurdi, Benue State, could not bear the shame of being
dumped or abandoned by her boy lover decided to take her life on Wednesday after
she found out that her boyfriend or boy lover simply known as Labi, impregnated
another girl and was no longer interested in her.
Clockwise News gathered that the day before the incident,
Jessica Beer had purchased a knife, which she intended to use to deal with her
boyfriend or boy lover. Due to the intervention of her close friend, ( who do
not want her name to be mentioned ) who advised Jessica Beer not to take the
law into her own hands. Thinking all is well, only to return the next day to
see Jessica on the floor, vomiting blood.
According to her, “When I went to see her the next day, I met
Jessica (Beer) on the floor, vomiting blood and I quickly raised the alarm”.
Jessica (Beer) was rushed to the closest private hospital,
Yiman Hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctors on duty.
Jessica (Beer) happens to be the story of the day as some of
her class mate are shock that she could actually take her life for a man whom
according to them is a cultist and an armed robber, who according to them had
refused to further his education. The question according to her classmates is “why
should my friend commit suicide over such a person? I can never do such a thing”.
The proprietress of the school has describe Jessica (Beer)
action as barbaric and ungodly and have asked her student to yield to her
advice, which she said was that they should focus on their studies and devote
their time to God rather than engaging in canal things or issues.
According to Mrs. Mercy Dyege, who happens to be the
proprietress of the school had said, “My teachers always pray with the students
and teach them the words of God, especially the female students. I also told
the girls that when they put their minds on their studies and complete their education,
men will look for them. This kind of incident has never occurred in my school
and I condemn this behavior in strong terms”.
Jessica (Beer) described by Tyoyange (her teacher), is a
beautiful young lady and in our last prize giving and graduation day, she
contested for Miss Dyege, organized by the college and won the crown. According
to her, she took her life when she was about to fulfill her dreams. May her soul
rest in peace.
